The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) helps unaccompanied children who are in immigration court. They can help children apply for protections like asylum or Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and, in some cases, provide a lawyer or connect families to trusted legal partners. Most services for children are free or very low-cost, and any fees depend on what the family can afford. USCRI also offers non-legal support for children and families, including help after a child is released from federal custody, support with school enrollment, referrals to medical and mental health care, and connections to local community resources. Services may vary depending on funding and availability, so families should contact the local USCRI office to ask what help is currently offered.
