Integrated Legal and Social Services

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) provides free legal representation and holistic support to unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children who arrive in the United States without a parent or guardian.

KIND’s attorneys and pro bono partners represent children in immigration court, helping them seek legal protection and relief.

KIND also offers psychosocial and social service support, including counseling, access to education, and family reunification assistance.

Legal Services:

• Representation in immigration court and asylum interviews
• Help with applications for Asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), U/T visas, and green cards
• "Know Your Rights" presentations

Social Services:

• Referrals for mental health care, medical support, and school enrollment
• Help with community integration and trauma-informed care

Counties served: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Houston, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller, and Wharton.
